Dr. Penny Bennington
Dr. Penny was born in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, and grew up in Salem, Ohio. She obtained her Bachelor of Science in Zoology and her D.V.M. degree from The Ohio State University in 1992. During vet school she managed the veterinary college bookstore. Her first job led her to Austintown, Ohio, where she met Dr. Scott and where they first discovered the compatibility of their practice (and other!) philosophies. She moved to the Cleveland area after a year in Austintown and worked at a pair of clinics in Northfield and Richmond Heights, Ohio. When she and Dr. Scott began looking for a clinic to buy, her longstanding desire to live in Maine helped direct their efforts. Outside of work, Dr. Penny enjoys cooking, working with homemade books and journals, and playing the flute. She has taught classes on rubber stamping, lettering, and art journaling, and has been published in multiple crafting magazines.
Dr. Scott Bennington
Dr. Scott is a native of Canton, Ohio. He received his Bachelor of Arts degree in Biology from Kenyon College in 1987 and his D.V.M. degree from The Ohio State University in 1991. During vet school, he pursued interests in surgery and cardiology by taking elective classes and participating in extra surgical rotations. After graduation, he worked as an associate veterinarian in Austintown, Ohio for two years and in Burton, Ohio for two-and-a-half years. After leaving Burton, he worked as a relief veterinarian for communities surrounding Cleveland, which allowed him to experience many different approaches to veterinary medicine. While working in this capacity, he began investigating options for practice ownership. His search started in northeast Ohio, led into and all the way across New York, and ultimately ended in Maine. Outside of the office, Dr. Scott enjoys gardening, baking, winter hiking, and sailing. He also enjoys music, and has sung in local choirs.
